Rejuvenation Update

February 18, 2008
While there has yet to be any
visible change in the northeast wing
of the church, we continue to make
terrific progress.
Thursday, February 14th,
just a few days following the very
productive meeting with the City of
Walla Walla, Skip Harrold, Pastor
Dan and I met Jay Ramirez and Chris
Hopkins, our designer, at the
church. The city had asked us for
specific square footage measurements
and totals for the portions of the
existing facility that will be
connected directly to the new wing.
These measurements will be used to
determine water requirements for
fire suppression and will also be
used to determine what sprinkler
requirements will be required.
Chris will also use these same
measurements to fine tune our next
set of plans with the revisions
agreed upon during the February 7th
meeting between the BOE and the
Building Committee.
Skip, Pastor Dan and I then met
again with Jay and Chris at Chris’s
office the next morning, Feb. 15th,
to go over the specific
modifications we wanted made to
Version 6 of the plans. Chris will
be working on those revisions over
the next two weeks or so, and Jay
will work on factoring those changes
into the estimated construction
cost. We expect to have an update
to present to the congregation
sometime during the first Sunday of
March.
Excitement continues to build
amongst the Building Committee, the
Board of Elders and those involved
in Children’s Ministry as we share
ideas and needs. Many of you have
made very thoughtful suggestions
toward insuring we have the very
best facility we can and I’m pleased
to report that all of those
suggestions have helped to shape the
next set of documents. Look for
them to be posted on our website and
to be displayed on our bulletin
board just as soon as they are
available.
Thanks again for your continued
prayers, suggestions, contributions
and support for this exciting
expansion to our church home.
In
His service,
Larry Wachtel
